Triathlon Plus Magazine Photo shoot

Yesterday I spent 5 hours with James Lampard, the designated Photographer for my photo shoot for Triathlon Plus Magazine. I had a ball!

We started with some Personal Training shots at Stratford Park Leisure centre with Jeremy Bingham. Boxing, Weights, Spin shots of me getting the PT Treatment, hot, sweaty and working hard.

We then moved outside to some local roads and took some shots of me with my bike. All sounds pretty bland until you realise that literally on the side of road where three tripods with flash guns, a big man in lycra holding his expensive bike, shivering in the UK November weather; and an artistic genius holding a camera spread eagled on the tarmac snapping away in between cars and trucks careering around the ‘S’ bend.

The final shots were taken in the 50m outdoor pool at Stratford Park. No-one has swum in the water since the end of August and the Art Deco diving boards offered a dramatic scene against the moody November grey sky. James suggested I put my wet suit on and ‘get in’.

So I did and my feet froze for a while and then became warm after about 15 mins in the water. I struck some poses and got out.

I had 5 hours of being ‘the one’ and I loved being a Diva for this time. 😉

I linked with a journalist a couple of weeks ago to tell my story, which is along the lines, in fact identical, to what is covered in this Blog. Nick Kinsey (, my Ironman / Triathlon Mentor mentioned me to his friend, who publishes the magazine and hence the article covering me as an ‘Inspirational figure’, in the forthcoming issue of Triathlon Plus magazine

I don’t really get that, (me as an inspiration) as I’m really not at all, but I am still loving the journey and I thoroughly loved the experience yesterday, as it will be the only time in my life I ever get treated or ‘shot’ like a super model Diva, which is a shame, as I could really get used to it!

Look out for me in the magazine, there should be some amazing pictures as James Lampard was very particular with the scenery, angle and lighting yesterday and did a great job – How very exciting!!!
